Who will be able to measure the height or the depth of the Love of Christ? The heights of human pride are indeed great, but they are measurable; only the height of God is immeasurable. The depths of human abjection found in corrupt flesh are great, but the abyss of the penitent, long-suffering, dying humanity of our Redeemer is very much deeper. Charity, which far out-distances every created thing, can triumph over all, because everything else is less than itself, and it does indeed triumph. SL, p. 84 |
