We are members of the Institute of Charity, founded by Blessed Antonio Rosmini in 1828 and commonly known as Rosminians. The purpose of the Institute is the holiness of its members through the perfection of charity.
We are present in many Countries of the world – Italy, Great Britain, Ireland, USA, Venezuela, Kenya, Tanzania, New Zealand, India – dedicated to “charity” in its three dimensions, spiritual, intellectual, temporal. We have, therefore, missions, parishes, houses of prayer, and retreat centres (spiritual works of charity), colleges, schools, centres of philosophy, theology, and spirituality (intellectual works of charity), and houses for the blind, the lepers, young disadvantaged people (works of temporal charity).
In Great Britain, we are present in England and Wales exercising charity in all its three dimensions. The Rosminian Fathers have been in England since 1835, followed, a few years later, by the Rosminian Sisters (Sisters of Providence). In the nearly 180 years of their presence, they have provided a great contribution to the spiritual, intellectual, and temporal strengthening of the Catholic Church in Great Britain, and many of its members have left a legacy of great personal holiness consumed in the exercise of love of God and neighbour. Fr. Luigi Gentili is, perhaps, the best known and most admired of the early Rosminians, who fatigued tirelessly for the conversion of souls, dying of exhaustion in Ireland at the young age of 47.
The Rosmini Centre House of Prayer is situated in Leicestershire, attached to the great Rosminian College known as Ratcliffe College. The essential purpose of the Centre is to be a place of prayer and a sign of love of God and neighbour, through various activities of spiritual, intellectual, and temporal charity.
We live a life of prayer and encourage others to enter into the beauty of prayer. We search without ceasing for all truth, knowing that through it we shall be led to the Truth, the second Person of the Blessed Trinity, and to the Father and the Holy Spirit.
We try to become a living church, in intimate union with the universal Church and through our local diocese of Nottingham. We welcome catholic men and women who wish to experience the power of God in prayer and in meditation. We welcome also men and women who may feel the call to dedicate their life entirely to God in the religious life and who feel the need for counselling and for discernment.
Blessed Rosmini has been entrusted with a special charism at the service of charity: we try to live by his charism and we announced it to the visitors of our site.
You are welcome.
